Anchors Gabby Gebhardt and Amanda Carlson

In our twenty-second show of our fourth season, we begin with a story about Autism , a neurological condition that affects 1 in 88 children every year. Then, the Make-A-Wish foundation grants a wish approximately every 38 minutes. These wishes are granted to children and teens with life-threatening conditions. We have story about the local chapter that helps children in our community.  In the Rocklin Unified District high schoolers are required to have at least twenty five hours of community service by the end of their senior year.  We went to a place where several teens received hours by cleaning up the community.  We end a story about the new mandatory weights class next year and a feature about the libero position in volleyball.

Anchors Frankie Wenson and Alina Barragan

In our twentieth show of our fourth season, the Center of Disease Control and Prevention says that one out of eighty-eight children have Autism. We start with a story about a young boy who does not let his disability prevent him from playing the game he loves. Then, with the year coming to a close, several WHS students are trying to figure out which AP classes they will take, if any, next year.  We talked to counselors and students taking AP classes and their recommendations.  The weather is getting warmer and when the sunshine comes out, dress code problems are bound to happen. We look at the dress code regulations and what the consequences are for not following it. And then we end with a story about a local a capella group and a feature about how one local market is helping save the community money.

Anchors Eric Yount and Maddie Dart

In our nineteenth show of our fourth season, we attended Freshmen orientation and we highlight the many exciting ideas discussed and presented at the exciting event. Next, we have a news feature about the lack of parking spots for students at Whitney High. Now, the problem has evolved and now the police are involved. Then, we introduce you to the new dance teacher who will also take over as the 2013-2014 Dance Team Coach. We end the show with a story about Leatherby’s Ice Cream shop and feature about Placer Materials Recovery Facility.

In this video, Wildcat Productions students follow the crash victims and the arrested drunk driver to their final destination.  After all the juniors and seniors went to lunch, and eighth period, our photographers continued to follow the journey of the Every 15 Minutes participants. This short film played at the beginning of the funeral assembly, before the guest speakers, to the entire junior and senior classes.

In this video, Wildcat Productions students explain how the driver of car got drunk and why the victims were riding together.  This short film played at the start of fourth period, to the entire school, before all the juniors and seniors walked out to the crash scene.

Anchors Frankie Wenson and Alina Barragan

In our eighteenth show of our fourth season, we begin with a recap of our trip to Los Angeles.  Earlier this month, 41 broadcast students traveled to LA for STN’s annual high school broadcast convention.  We look back on the experience and tell you about some of the awards we won.  Next, we have a feature story about a dance student who is graduating early, in order to audition for dance production companies and competitive dance colleges.  Then, we end the show with a feature about a senior softball player on her way to pitching for the Cal-Berkeley Bears, a story about a local boy who loves archery, a look at a teen who is playing basketball at Oregon this spring, and we end with a story about our ROTC program.

National letter of intend signing day at Whitney High School.

Athletic Director Jason Feuerbach hosted students, staff, family and friends to congratulate the 10 student/athletes who signed national letters of intent to participate in college sports.  The event was held on March 14, 2013.

In our seventeenth show of our fourth season, we sent the day in Los Angeles for STN’s annual national high school convention.  This show is written and produced form Los Angeles and features stories from the Hollywood sign, and from an actress in the film “Pitch Perfect.”  We also created several commercials and PSAs in L.A.
